Pool Automation Is Not Working
Automation problems fall into three buckets: the controller is not commanding, the command is not reaching the device, or the device itself has failed. Determining which one saves a great deal of guesswork.
Likely Causes
Failed relay
The controller commands the circuit but nothing switches on. A very common and repairable failure.
Actuator failure
A valve actuator that no longer rotates leaves plumbing stuck between modes.
Transformer or power supply failure
A blank panel is often power-related, not a dead main board.
Lost schedules
After a power outage, schedules and clock settings may be erased even though the system works.
Connectivity loss
The app cannot reach the system due to Wi-Fi, gateway or account issues while local control still works fine.
Sensor faults
Bad temperature or flow sensors cause the system to make wrong decisions confidently.
What You Can Safely Check
- Try controlling a circuit at the panel itself, not through the app
- Check the panel for power, error lights or a blank display
- Verify the clock and schedules after any recent outage
- Watch whether valve actuators actually rotate when a mode changes
When to Call a Professional
If local control fails, or a circuit will not switch at the panel, the fault is in the hardware and needs service. We test relays, actuators and power supplies rather than defaulting to a full system replacement.
Safety: Do not open control panel enclosures. They contain line-voltage connections.
