Pool pH Is Too Low
Low pH is less common than high pH here, but it is more destructive. Acidic water attacks heat exchangers, metal fittings, plaster surfaces and pump seals, and the damage is not reversible.
Likely Causes
Over-correction with acid
Too much muriatic acid added at once, often chasing a high pH reading without checking alkalinity.
Low total alkalinity
Without buffer, pH swings wildly on very small chemical additions.
Trichlor tablet use
Trichlor is acidic and steadily drives both pH and alkalinity down over a season.
Rainfall and dilution

Persistently low pH is corroding equipment right now, particularly heaters. If your readings sit below 7.2 regularly, have the water and buffer system evaluated before it costs you a heat exchanger.
